Malegaon: While issuing a resolution to celebrate the upcoming 63rd anniversary of India’s independence, the United States Senate applauded the contributions of Americans of Indian origin to society in the United States.
The resolution was sponsored by Senator John Cornyn (Republican of Texas) and supported by Senator Christopher Dodd (Democrat of Connecticut).
In the resolution statement the Senate underscored that there were over 2 million such Indian-Americans and they had made lasting contributions in areas such as government, military and law enforcement offices, reports The Hindu correspondent Narayan Lakshman from Washington.
The US Senate also affirmed that it remained committed to fostering and advancing the strategic relationship between the U.S. and India in the future.
