
Lucknow: A special court of Central Bureau of Investigation (Ayodhya matter) Monday issued Non-bailable Warrant (NBW) against BJP MPs Sakshi Maharaj and Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh along with four others in the Babri Mosque demolition case.
In all NBW were issued against six people. Besides the BJP MPs, four others are Amarnath Goyal, Jai Bahadur Goyal, Ramchandra Khatri and Pawan Pandey(ex MLA), sources here said.
Special CBI Court( Ayodhya matter) Chandramauli Tiwari issued the NBW when these accused did not turn up in the court for the past two years. The case number 162/92 of Demolition is under trial against 22 accused including the two BJP MPs in the CBI special court here in Lucknow. The case was against 42 people but now several accused have died and now only 22 are left.
A separate case is under trial against seven others in the Rae Bareli special court where the court had recorded the statements of the witnesses. CBI has been directed to ensure the presence of all the six people against whom warrant has been issued in the court on next hearing on July 19, sources said. Sakshi Maharaj is Lok Sabha MP of BJP from Unnao, Brijbhushan is MP Qaiserganj.
On December 17, 2012 too, the same special CBI court here had issued non-bailable warrants against the then Samajwadi Party MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and former MLA Pawan Pandey after they failed to appear before it.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was BJP MP from Gonda constituency at the time of razing down of the medieval monument and remained close to senior BJP leader LK Advani and VHP leader Ashok Singhal during their campaign for Ram Janam Bhumi in Ayodhya. Later in 2009 he won as SP nominee from Kaiserganj but again switched over to BJP in 2014.
