Kolkata: Boys dominated the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE) engineering and pharmacy stream examination, the results for which was announced today. Among the top ten merit list holders, there were no girls.
Yashvardhan Didwania from DPS Rajarhat topped the exam followed by Abhishek Datta and Arpan Konar.
"Congratulations to all the future engineers who succeeded in WBJEE. You are the future of this country. Make India and Bengal proud," West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.
Earlier, thousands of student who appeared for the West Bengal WBJEE Engineering and Pharmacy stream examinations were up for a shock when they logged in to West Bengal JEE website, www.wbjeeb.nic.in, to check their results but found the website not working.
Multiple reports had earlier informed that the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will declare the results of West Bengal WBJEE Engineering Stream Examination 2016 on its official website on www.wbjeeb.nic.in.
However, the above website was down when ummid.com checked it at 04:00 pm Sunday and later.
"I am trying to log in to the above mentioned website where the results are supposed to be published online today at 04:00. But, I couldn't log in to the website", Akshay Basu, a student, said.
Interestingly, some students tried to check their results on wbjeeb.in. But this site was also reportedly crashed. Some students said they got the message, "Resource Limit Is Reached - The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later", when they logged in to webjeeb.in.
Finally, when the students logged in to www.results.westbengaleducation.net, they found the West Bengal WBJEE Engineering Stream Examination 2016 results there.
The results are now online and students who appeared for the West Bengal WBJEE Engineering Stream Examination Result 2016 can access their results directly by clicking on the above mentioned link.

- Access the board’s official website: http://results.westbengaleducation.net/WBJEE
- Enter your details such as roll number and date of birth in the respected fields.
- Click on ‘Get My Result’ tab.
- Your results will appear on the screen
Conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) on May 17 across West Bengal and in parts of Assam and Tripura, 106,888 candidates had appeared in the common entrance exam. The applicants who pass the written test will then be called for the interview round.
This year a lot of medical students could not appear for the WBJEE as Supreme Court had decided to replace state-level medical entrance examination with NEET. Hence, West Bengal WBJEE Medical Stream Examination 2016 have been postponed to July 20.
The West Bengal joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed as West Bengal Board of Examinations for Admission to Engineering Degree Colleges in the year 1962, born out of a concept of holding a common admission test for the Engineering colleges of the State of West Bengal.
The basic purpose was to select candidates for consideration for admission to the State Colleges on the basis of the results of a single competitive examination, which would also lead to saving of time, energy and expenditure on the part of the candidates in appearing at number of entrance tests.
