Jerusalem: The Israeli occupation authorities on Sunday released dean of the female Palestinian prisoners Lina al-Jarbouni after serving 15 years in Israel's HaSharon prison.
Al-Jarbouni, 43, from the town of Arraba in Israeli-held Galilee since 1948, was detained on charges of participating in cell affiliated with the Islamic Jihad Movement on 18 April 2002.
She was originally sentenced to 17 years in prison for carrying out acts of resistance against the occupation authorities, but the sentence was lowered to 15 years after her lawyer appealed the court decision.
After her release, al-Jarbouni said that her joy of release is mixed with sorrow, wishing for all the Palestinian prisoners in Israel's jails to be released.
She also called on the prisoners to unite around the leadership of the hunger-strike which will begin on Monday.
