Mumbai: Slamming Modi, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the governments it leads at the centre and in some other states, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) floor leader in Telangana assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi Saturday accussed them of promoting hatred in the namse of beef and cow slaughter.
"The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) killed Akhlaque Ahmed in Dadri and scores of others in Haryana and other states for eating beef", Akbaruddin Owaisi said while addressing a rally at NagpadaJunction in Mumbai.
"While the BJP played politics of hatred in the name of beef, its government both at the centre and in other states promoted beef export", he added.
"The Modi government in New Delhi alone is responsible for export of beef worth 76,000 crore rupees", he said.
Akbaruddin Owaisi was in Mumbai to campaign for the AIMIM candidates contesting Mumbai civic elections. Fighting Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections for the first time, the Hyderabad based AIMIM has fielded 61 candidates.
In a direct attack on Modi government over the issue of Muslim Personal Law, Owaisi questioned its stand on women's rights.
"Modi's estranged wife at present is the most suffering woman. Modi should first bring her home and provide her justice before talking of women's rights", Owaisi said.
Owaisi cited the reports that said Modi's mother stood in queue after demonetisation to criticise the prime minister for demonetisation.
"How can a person with slightest humanity could allow his mother to stand in queue for mere 4000 rupees?", Owaisi asked.
Akbaruddin Owaisi also slammed the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Shiv Sena and urged the people of Mumbai to vote for AIMIM candidates to bring a change in Mumbai.
"The Congress and NCP have been threatening people to vote for them otherwise riots will take place. Hundreds of riots took place and thousands of innocent people were killed and suffered while these parties were in power in last 70 years.
"Riots took place even though they were in power. What they did to stop riots? Did we not support Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai, Rajive Gandhi Narasimha Rao? Even then we were subjected to all sorts of injustice.
"Its time now for the people to teach such parties a lesson", Owaisi said.
Owaisi also accused the Congress party of being responisble for innocent Muslims who were implicated and arrested in false cases in the name of fighting terrorism.
Giving a unity call, Owaisi also urged the people to realise the importance of their votes.
"If someone with 31 per cent and merely 17 crore votes can become Prime Minister of India, why can't we who are 25 crore in the country can do the same?", Owaisi asked
"If we are suffering and deprived of our basic rights despite having a huge population, it is because we are not united", he said.
