New Delhi: About 3,000 candidates - a total of 2,961 to be specific, have been selected for the Final Interviews to be held in March, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said Tuesday while declaring the results of the Civil Services Main Examination 2016.
"On the basis of the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2016 held by the Union Public Service Commission from 3rd December to 9th December, 2016, candidates whose roll numbers are mentioned in the list published on the UPSC website have qualified for the Personality Test for selection to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other Central Services", a UPSC statement said.
According to the list released by the UPSC on its official website upsc.gov.in, a total of 2,961 candidates have been shortlisted for the final interview - considered as one of the toughest test in India. The interview is likely to commence from March 20, 2017 onwards.
Results of 03 candidates with roll numbers 0000432, 0010513, 0659780 have been kept withheld subject to the outcome of the court case, the UPSC said.
To other shortlisted candidates, the UPSC will send e-Summon or e-Call letter once the dates and schedule are confirmed. No paper summon letters will be issued for UPSC final interviews.
UPSC Civil Services Recruitment process consists of three steps; UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam, UPSC Civil Services Main Exam and UPSC Civil Services Interview. The final merit list and selection is done on the basis of a candidate's score in Personal Interview as well as written exam i.e. Civil Services Main examination.
"Personality Test of these candidates is likely to commence from 20th March, 2017. The date and time of Personality Test will not be intimated to the qualified candidates individually. The date and time of Personality Test of candidates being called for Personality Test will be displayed on the Commission’s website http://www.upsc.gov.in", the UPSC said in a statement.
"No request for change in the date and time of the Personality Test intimated to the candidates will be entertained", the UPSC said.
"The marks sheets of candidates who have not qualified, will be put on the Commission’s website within 15 days from the date of publication of the final result (after conducting Personality Test) and will remain available on the Website for a period of 60 days", the UPSC said.
Thousands of Civil Services aspirants who cracked the UPSC Civil Services Prelims and later appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Main exams held between December 3 to December 9, 2016 were anxiously waiting for their results.
The UPSC conducts various exams and declares their results, including that of UPSC Civil Services Prelim, Main and Final results, and related notifications on its official website upsc.gov.in. All results are declared without prior announcement.
The Civil Services Preliminary examination is normally held in the month of August, but now after a gap of three years, the commission will be conducting the examination in the month of June. A graduate in any stream and from a reputed university is eligible to appear for the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary examination.
