16-year-old Junaid, a Hafiz who had memorised entire Quran, was beaten and later stabbed to death in a running train while he was returning to his native village after Eid shopping in Delhi. Junaid's brothers and cousins who were accompanying him were also mercilessly beaten by a mob which also hurled communal slurs against them.
Narrating their ordeal, Junaid’s brothers said the attackers had taunted and repeatedly called them “anti-nationals” and “beef eaters”.
The police had on Monday offered Rs. 2 lakh for any information that could lead to the killer.
