Jewish settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection

Jerusalem:
A group of 42 Jewish settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Wednesday, under the protection of Israeli police, Palestinian News Agency WAFA reported quoting local sources.

The Israeli settlers, who gathered in a number of small groups, provocatively toured around Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, while Muslim worshippers chanted religious slogans to protest the Jewish incursions.

According to a statistics released by the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, Jewish settlers made 14,806 incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque during 2016.

Al Aqsa Mosque is third holiest worship place for Muslims after the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet Mosque in Madinah. The site is also revered by Christians and Jews. But, it faces threat from the Jewish groups who want to bulid temple.

Jerusalem is under illegal occupation of Israel.
