Allahabad: Two buses have been torched and a private hospital has been vandalised after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers went on rampage in Allahabad after a party leader was murdered early in the morning on Tuesday.
Rajesh Yadav, who had contested this year's assembly elections, was shot at about 02.30 am outside the Allahabad University's Tarachand Hostel.
Yadav had gone to the hostel to meet someone along with a friend.
They reportedly had an argument with a group of people, who threw stones at their car and then shot Yadav in his stomach.
Yadav was rushed to a private hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident angry BSP workers staged a violent protest and torched a roadways bus demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
According to TV reports two buses were set on fire and a hospital was attacked allegedly by BSP workers.
Heavy police force was rushed near the Indian Press Crossing to control the situation.
