UP Haj 2018 Waiting List

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Haj Committee has released online the Haj 2018 waiting list containing the names of provisionally selected pilgrims on its website.

The 09-page waiting list contains the cover numbers of 467 pilgrims covering a total of 1166 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh. Each cover number has 01, 02, 03 or sometimes 04 pilgrims. The UP State Haj Committee waiting list can be accessed by clicking here. UP State Haj 2018 Waiting List.

The Haj Committee of India had last Wednesday released the waiting list containing names of a total of 5617 pilgrims who have been provisionally selected to perform Haj in 2018. Their Haj application will be confirmed once they submit all the required documents along with the first installment of Rs. 81,000.

“All the selected pilgrims whose names are mentioned in the list are required to deposit Advance Haj Amount of Rs.81,000/- each. A unique Bank Reference Number provided to each cover must be mentioned in the Remittance Receipt", the Haj Committee of India said.

“After depositing the amount of Rs.81,000/-, the provisionally selected pilgrims shall submit a copy of the pay-in-slip, medical certificate along with original passport and one photograph to their respective state Haj committees by or before April 13, 2018", the Central Haj Committee said.

The Haj Committee of India has released the waiting list containing names of 5617 pilgrims to fill the seats which became vacant after cancellations in various states. A maximum of 1301 pilgrims from Kerala who were selected after the draw of lot cancelled their Haj journey this year. Kerala is followed by 1166 from Uttar Pradesh, 589 from Maharashtra, 588 from Karnataka, 412 from Gujarat, 339 from Tamil Nadu, 318 from Telangana, 212 from Jammu & Kashmir, 206 from Madhya Pradesh, 136 from Rajasthan, 116 from Delhi and 101 from Andhra Pradesh. The remaining are from Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Odisha and Uttarakhand.

The Haj Committee of India has not cited any reason why 5617 pilgrims who were selected after Qurrah have cancelled their Haj travel. However, it is said that due to the huge increase in Haj airfare from India, many pilgrims were forced to cancel their Haj journey.

According to Haj 2018 plan, the first Haj Charter flight will depart from India on July 14, 2018 whereas the first inbound flight from Saudi Arabia to India will be in September first week. "Detailed Haj flight schedule will be released later on", the Haj Committee of India said.

The Haj Committee of India will release the final schedule of all inbound and outbound flights including the allowed baggage and other details from all embarkation points on its website very soon. The pilgrims are required to use their cover number to check their flight details and status once they are uploaded on the Haj Committee of India website.

The Haj Committee had earlier completed the Qurrah or Draw of Lots to select the final list of pilgrims who will perform Haj in 2018 from India. The Qurrah or Draw of lots is done as number of Muslims applying for Haj exceeds the quota allotted to India.

Coinciding with Eid al Adha, Haj is the annual ritual to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hager and his son Prophet Ismael. The likely date of Wuqoof e Arafat - the key ritual of the Hajj, is August 20 or 19. As the Islamic calendar is based on sighting of moon, the final date will be decided once the new moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah is sighted. Last year, Wuqoof e Arafat was on August 31, 2017.
