CBSE Compartment Exam 2018

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) should release online the notification of Class XII and Class X Compartment 2018 exams on its official website any moment in the next few days.

Last year the CBSE Compartment exams were held in July. It is hence most likely that the CBSE will release online the time table of Compartment Exams 2018 on its website in this week.

The CBSE declared the Class X 2018 results on May 29. The CBSE Class XII results 2018 were declared on May 26, 2018.

The CBSE notification for Compratment exam in 2017 was issued in the first week of June. The last date of application for both the exams was June 21 in 2017. Hence, it is most likely that the CBSE should release date sheet of 2018 Compartment exams any moment.

The CBSE provides students a maximum of 5 chance to clear the exam before a student is marked as Failed. In such a case a student has to readmit in previous class again.

Last year, the CBSE conducted the Compartment Exam of Class 12 and Improvement of Performance (IOP) for Class 10 on July 17. Class 10 student’s IOP ended on July 25 while the compartment exam of Class 12 students was conducted on a single day.

In addition to Class XII Compartmental Theory Examination for all subjects held on July 17, 2017, practical examinations were also held for the candidates who had failed in practical in a subject involving practical.

The CBSE conducts Compartmental or Supplementary exams for Class XII as well as Class X every year for the candidates who are failed or have got E1/E2 grade in the annual examination conducted in the month of February/March.

As per the CBSE rules, a candidate failing in one of the five subjects of external examination is placed in Compartment in that subject provided he or she qualifies in all the subjects of internal assessment.

A candidate placed in Compartment examination may reappear at the Compartmental examination held in July the same year, may avail second chance in March/April and third chance in July of next year.

The candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he or she qualifies the compartmental subjects in which she had failed. Syllabi and Courses are the same as applicable for the candidates of full subjects appearing at the examination in the year concerned.

A candidate who fails to appear or fails at one or all the chances of the Compartment examination is treated to have failed in the examination and is required to reappear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board as per syllabi and courses laid down for the examination concerned in order to pass the examination.

The candidates’ practical marks/internal assessment marks obtained in the Main examination will be carried over till the third chance compartmental examination.
