New Delhi: The authorities conducting the JEE Advanced for admission to IITs are all set to decalre online the results of the 2015 test on Thursday June 18, it is officially stated.

After declaration, the students can download their JEE Advanced results by logging on to the official website and clicking on the appropriate link.

This year, the pattern for JEE was changed unexpectedly, and students complained about the excessive negative marking. Although both the papers were supposed to carry 180 marks, the pattern was altered without any notice.

Paper I consisted of 262 questions and Paper II carried 240 questions. Also, the candidates found most of the questions under the Mathematics and Physics sections time consuming.

The new negative marking scheme, under which two negative marks will be awarded for wrong answers, was another shock to the students who took the exam last month.

After learning that fewer students could cross the bar this year, the JEE (Advanced) board has lowered the qualifying marks criteria for admission in the IITs.

A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the JEE (Advanced) board Friday night, five days before the announcement of the result. JEE (Advanced) result is slated to be declared on June 18.

To qualify for JEE advanced, a general category student will now have to secure 7% marks in each of the three subjects with aggregate of 24.5%. The previous cut-off was 10% marks in each subjects and 35% in aggregate, a bar which could not be cleared by an adequate number of candidates, prompting the authorities to lower it.

The authorities have already published online the revised answer keys of Paper 1 and Paper 2 both on Saturday June 13.

These answer keys have been displayed after making the required changes, based on the feedback submitted by the candidates regarding any discrepancies in the answer keys published earlier this week.

The answer keys for both, Paper 1 and Paper 2 were published at the official website of JEE Advanced on June 8.

The students were permitted to give their feedback starting at 12 pm on June 8 up till 5 pm on June 11. They were allowed to submit the feedback only through fax, and any communication via e-mail or telephone was not available. The fax numbers for all zonal institutes were mentioned along with the answer keys.

The Optical Response Sheet (ORS) and scanned images, cut-off marks and rank list for preparatory courses have already been published online.

The JEE Advanced was conducted on May 24. Approximately 1.5 lakh students had registered for the competitive exam - compulsory for admission to country's premium engineering colleges Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), and about 1.25 lakh appeared for it.
