Imphal:
Even as protests against rampant intolerance against Muslims and Dalits become stronger, 55-year-old headmaster of a madrasa under government control is killed allegedly for stealing cow.

The body of Md Hasmad Ali, the headmaster of the government run primary madrassa, was found five km away from his house at Keirao Makating village in Manipur's Imphal East district early on Monday, the police said.

Sources alleged that Ali was killed on the charges of cow theft.

Following the recovery of the body, a large number of residents of Keirao Makting village stormed the Irilbung police station demanding arrest of the culprits, the police said.

The alleged killing took place few months after a 50-year-old Muslim man was lynched by a Hindu mob in Dadri, some 45 kms from New Delhi, allegedly for eating beef.

Weeks after this incident, a 20-year-old Muslim youth was beaten to death near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh on the claim that he was part of a gang involved in cow smuggling.
