New Delhi: The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2016 offline exams will be held on April 03, 2016 whereas the computer based online exam will be held on April 09, 2016, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on its official website.
The CBSE also said that the registration process for the JEE Main 2016 will begin on December 1, 2015 and will continue till December 31, 2015. Also, as per the official notification, the detailed information brochure for JEE Main 2016 will be out on December 1, 2015.
"The detailed information bulletin containing details of examination, syllabus, eligibility criteria to appear, examination fee, cities of examination, State code of eligibility, age relaxation, process of normalization of marks, eligibility for admission, reservation policies and important dates will be available on JEE (Main) website www.jeemain.nic.in on 1st December 2015", the CBSE said in its notification.
"In pursuance of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Notification, the 4th Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - 2016 will be conducted by the JEE Apex Board for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions etc." the CBSE added.
"The admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other centrally funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments, and several other Institutions shall include the performance in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main)", it said.
For admission to NITs, Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) like IIITs etc. and other participating Institutions, the merit/rank list shall be prepared based on 40% weightage to school Boards marks in class 12th or equivalent examination and 60% weightage to JEE(Main).
"The weightage to school Board/Equivalent examination marks shall be considered only after normalization", the board said.
"The States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland & Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) -2016 application form online", it said.
"The JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs/ISM Dhanbad", it added.
The JEE (Main) – 2016 will have two papers, Paper-1 (B.E. / B. Tech.) and Paper-2 (B. Arch./ B. Planning).
The candidates may take Paper-1 B.E. / B. Tech.) or Paper-2 B. Arch./B. Planning) or both depending upon the course(s) they are seeking admission.
