New Delhi:
Though still undecided whether to contest assembly elections in Bihar, due in next month, the All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi said he has plans to contest elections in all Indian states except Assam and Kerala.

"Two states where I do not find any reason to contest are Assam, where AIUDF is doing a fine job, and Kerala, where there is Muslim League doing good work", Asaduddin Owaisi who represents Hyderabad in the Indian Parliament, said while talking to Indian Express.

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) in Assam and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in Kerala - both led by Muslim politicians, are key players in the local politics of the two important states.

"However", Owaisi added, "If (AIUDF chief) Badruddin Ajmal asks me to campaign for his party, I will certainly do so. He has his own base and I will certainly supplement his efforts if he so desires."

Owaisi however did not answer the questions relating to the AIMIM fielding candidates in the Bihar assembly elections.

"We have yet not decided whether we will field candidates in Bihar elections. We are considering all aspects", he said in response to repeated questions.

About his plans to contest elections in West Bengal, Owaisi said the AIMIM has already decided to contest.

"In West Bengal there are increasing demands from my own party organisation to fight. The organisation is getting stronger. On my way back from Kishenganj, I stopped over in Kolkata and I was really impressed by the response."

At the same time, Owaisi slammed his critics who are of the view that AIMIM taking part in elections is helping BJP, saying the secular parties blaming him for their own shortcomings.

"I do not understand why this question is being posed to me. I did not contest in Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand or Jammu & Kashmir. I did not contest the municipal elections in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Why did the so-called secular forces lose in these states then?" he asked.

"They cannot blame me for their shortcomings, incompetence, lack of credibility. It is a completely wrong assumption that AIMIM fighting elections helps the BJP", he said.

Owaisi has earlier threatened to sue Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for accusing him of having nexus with the BJP.
