Makkah: An elderly Belgian woman who embraced Islam during the month of Ramadan said she was impressed by "bonds of relations" among Muslims and said she found back what she had lost in her life in the last fifty years as a Christian.
“What fascinated me to Islam was the thrust to establish bonds of relations among its followers and their gestures of reciprocal mercy and compassion, especially in the holy month of Ramadan.
"What I have lost in my life in the past five decades as a Christian, I now find in Islam", she said while talking to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The 60-year-old Belgian from the city of Antwerp, thanked Sheikh Abdullah Al-Anzi, a preacher sent by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance to the European country, for his efforts and help he extended to learn and understand about Islam.
The woman also thanked Al-Anzi for his advice and prayers after her pronouncing of the Shahada (the testimony of faith) while reverting to Islam amid shouts of Allahu Akbar (God is Great) by the crowds of worshippers present.
Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance under its annual Ramadan program has dispatched a total of 60 imams to lead prayers in Muslim communities in 37 countries around the world this Ramadan. Al-Anzi is the imam sent to Belgium as part of the program.
