Indore: Unable to pay back borrowed money, a man in Indore opted to sell off his wife for one lakh rupees and posted the offer along with her photograph on Facebook.
The couple, who married four years ago, have a three-year-old daughter.
Aerodrum police station in-charge Balbeer Singh told reporters on Monday that on the complaint of the woman they have registered a case against her husband Dileep, from Khargone district, under Indian Penal Code Section 509 for disrespecting a woman.
The woman said her husband had a habit of borrowing money. It was due to this habit that they moved to Indore from Sanawad in Khargone district but he started borrowing money in this city as well. She then forced him out of the house when he did not mend his ways.
It was after this that he put up the offer on the social networking site.
