Malegaon: Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Maharashtra SM Mushrif on Friday while demanding that the erring officers should be booked immediately alleged that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officers were working in collusion with the Hindu terrorists since 2005.
He also alleged that in order to protect the Hindu terrorists responsible for about 25 blasts, police deliberately arrested innocent Muslim youths and gave a different color to these terror attacks.
"The blasts that took place between 2001 to 2008 were part of a well planned conspiracy. The IB and ATS officers were not only aware of this plan but they were hand in glove with the Hindu terrorists", the former top cop said while addressing a public meeting in Malegaon on Friday.
The public meeting was called by the Kul Jamaati Tanzeem Malegaon after the Mumbai court order to discharge the nine Muslim accused who were charge-sheeted, first by the ATS and later by the CBI, in the 2006 Malegaon blast case.
"The charge-sheet was a bundle of lies. As a police officer, I knew from the day one that what's going on was wrong", Mushrif, who was Additional SP (ASP) in Malegaon, said.
He said as the later investigations proved Abhinav Bharat terrorists were responsible for many blasts in the country and they had tacit support from the sleuths.
Mushrif said that in August 2005, former ATS Chief Raghuvanshi had invited Lt. Col Prohit for a training session on investigation into terror-related cases. Col. Prohit was also called when a huge quantity of RDX was seized in Aurangabad.
"But, the fact is that at that time RDX in a huge quantity was in the possession of Prohit. Had the investigation into the Aurangabad May 2006 case was done by someone else, Prohit should have been definitely in trouble", he alleged.
Demanding that the officers involved in this conspiracy should be arrested, Mushrif said, "The government should apologise not only to these Muslims who spent so many years in jail without any fault but to entire Muslim community. The government should also on its own announce compensation for these Muslims".
Addressing the public meeting, Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi, who helped the Kul Jamaati Tanzeem and the families of the Muslims falsely arrested in the case, said justice will be incomplete if the erring officers are not punished.
"I appeal to the President of India and Chief Justice to take suo moto action so that the officers responsible for deliberately ruining the lives of Muslims are punished", he said.
Interestingly, Justice VV Patil in his order though observed that the nine Muslims were made "scape-goat" said the ATS officers should not be blamed for their arrest.
"ATS Officers who conducted the investigation were having no animosity with these accused persons to book them in the crime, therefore, in my view as they discharged their public duty but in a wrong way, so they may not be blamed for it", Justice Patil, who discharged the nine Muslims of all charges in the 2006 Malegaon blast case, said in his order.
