New Delhi: Amid anxious and endless wait by hundreds of thousands of candidates, a railway board official on Tuesday said they are working to bring all regional RRB websites on the national server this is why the RRB Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) 2016 Exam result announcement has got delayed.

The Railway board official however said the RRB Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) 2016 Exam results would be declared soon, most likely by the end of the ongoing month.

“Few of RRB’s websites run on private server including the Thiruvananthapuram Board. We are trying to bring all the Board’s websites on the NIC server", a senior railway board official has been quoted as saying in media reports.

The official also clarified that the Thiruvananthapuram regional fiasco was also due to this technical issue.

"On November 17, we were testing the website and therefore temporarily uploaded the data. The final results are not out yet,” the official said.

"The Board is “hopeful to release the result by the month-end", the official added.

Many candidates who appeared for the RRB Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) 2016 Exam were up for a shock on Friday after the RRB Thiruvananthapuram region results were withdrawn hours after it was declared.

Candidates rushed to the RRB Thiruvananthapuram website to check their results as soon as news went viral that they were uploaded on the website. However it was soon found that the said results were just dummy data uploaded on the website for testing, it is reported by the media.

“The result data was temporarily uploaded only to test the updated website. Final result will be uploaded shortly", media reports quoted Railway board officials as saying.

The latest development led to further confusion and anxiety as candidates who appeared for the test are impatiently waiting for the results - delayed by months and the Railway board is silent on the actual date of result announcement.

Over 93 lakh candidates had applied for the exam held at 21 RRB centres. Out of them some 56 lakh candidates appeared for the online exam - said to be the world's largest.

A total of 18,252 vacancies were announced by the Railways Recruitment Board this year. About 4.8% - 2.7 lakh candidates - are expected clear the Stage 1 exam. The board has announced that about 2,73,780 candidates (15*18,252) will be called for the Stage 2 examinations. The selection will be based on merit.

While the examination at 13 centres were held as per the announced schedule, it was rescheduled due to administrative reasons at eight centres which included Allahabad, Pune, Delhi and West Bengal.

Earlier it was reported in the media that the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) 2016 Exam results of all regions will be declared in the first week of November, most probably on or before November 06, 2016.

Amid these news, also came the reports that the results of all regions will not be declared simultaneously, and only of few select regions will be declared in the first week of November.

Talking to Hindustan Times, a railway ministry source said on Friday, “Around 56 lakh candidates have taken the examination and so a large volume of data has to be processed. The process of scrutiny of results is on and best efforts are being made to declare the results by the end of this month.”

The source further said that “due diligence is being exercised in the scrutiny of results to avoid mistakes.”

It was earlier reported that the results of Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) 2016 Exam will be declared by October end or first week of November, and the second stage Computer Based Test (CBT) for various NTPC (Graduate) categories will begin after the results are decalred.

Anil Kumar Saxena, Additional Director General (PR), Railways Board, had earlier said that the NTPC preliminary (1st stage) examination results 2016 would be declared in the first fortnight of October, sparking speculations that it would happen either on October 14 or 15.

"Only those candidates who have cleared the first stage of the exam, which were held between March and May, will be called for the second stage of the exam. The number of candidates called for the second stage will be 15 times the number of vacancies", he added.

The second stage of the exam is likely to have questions about general awareness, mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning. The test will have 120 multiple choice objective questions and candidates will get 90 minutes to solve them.
