Patna: History was on Saturday created in Bihar when more than two crore people joined hands in the longest ever human chain in the world against liquor consumption. This marked beginningof mega awareness drive against all sorts of addictions to be continued for next two months in the state.
In a rare display of commitment against prohibition and all sort of addictions, more than two crore people created human chain on routes spread over 11,000 kms in 38 districts of the state.
Schoolchildren, teachers, employees of government and private offices actively participated in the event while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was himself part of historic human chain at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
Five satellites, four helicopters and 40 drones were pressed into service for photography of the human chain and a team of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) kept the close vigil onentire exercise to record the historic event.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar along with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yafav, Bihar Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman of Legislative Council Awadhesh Narain Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, Education Minister Ashok Chaudhary and others were part of human chain.
Bihar was written in dark black colour in the middle of the map so that a clear picture of the event is captured through ISRO sattelite, drones and helicopters.
To display communal harmony, four children dressed in traditional attires of hindus, muslims, sikhs and christians stood by side of the CM and Lalu Prasad.
