Lucknow: Mohammad Abdullah, 26-year-old son of Samajwadi Party stalwart and Minister in Akhilesh government Azam Khan, has been declared on Saturday the winner of the Suar (Swar) Assembly seat.
Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan, who was contesting the elections for the first time defeated his nearest rival Laxmi Saini of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) by over 53,000 votes.
Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan polled a total of 106,443 votes. Laxmi Saini however could bag just 53,347 votes.
Sitting MLA Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, who was contesting the Suar (Swar) Assembly seat as BSP candidate, came third with 42,233 votes. Nawab Kazim Ali Khan had won the 2012 elections as Congress candidate, bagging 55,469 votes. He however switched over to BSP ahead of the 2017 state elections.
Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan is M.Tech in Civil Engineering from Noida University. After completing education, he began managing Mohammad Ali Jauhar University. The university is founded by his father Azam Khan in Rampur.
Azam Khan, sitting MLA from Rampur, has also won the 2017 elections.
Elsewhere in the state, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained its lead over rival parties in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP has so far won more than 200 seats and is leading in 124 others.
The Samajwadi Party-Congress combine is leading in 57 seats whereas BSP is leading in just 19 seats.
Owaisi's AIMIM which contested on 38 seats is not in race anywhere in Uttar Pradesh.

08:15 PM Mukhtar Ahmed Ansari, who contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections from Mau Assembly seat as the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) candidate, has been declared winner, the State Election Commission officials said on Saturday.
Mukhtar Ansari bagged a total of 96,793 votes and defeated his nearest rival Mahendra Rajbhar of SBSP who got 88,095 votes. Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate came third with 72, 016 votes.
In Moradabad Rural Assembly seat, Haji Ikram Qureshi of SP defeated Pannalal Urf Bablu Saini of BSP by about 28,700 votes. Haji Ikram polled 97,916 votes whereas Pannalal could get 69,135 votes.
Mohammad Kmaranul Haq of RLD bagged 23,404 votes in this Assembly seat. The AIMIM has fielded Mohammad Aslam from Moradabad Rural seat. But, he polled just 3,503 votes.
07: 45 PM Samajwadi Party (SP) sitting MLA from Moradabad Nagar Assembly constituency Mohammad Yusuf Ansari lost the 2017 elections by just 618 votes, according to the results announced by the State Election Commission Saturday.
Yusuf Ansari polled a total of 76,337 votes. But, polling 76,955 votes, Ritesh Kumar Gupta of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) dislodged him from the Moradabad Nagar assembly seat.
Interestingly, the AIMIM candidate Shahabuddin bagged 104 votes.
Mouammaad Yusuf Ansari had won the 2012 state elections securing 88,341 votes.
06:40 PM Imran Masood of Congress, who was arrested in a hate speech case, has lost the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections contesting from the Nakur assembly seat, according to the results announced by the Election Commission Saturday afternoon.
Imran Masood lost the election to BJP's Dr Dharam Singh Saini by over 4,000 votes.
Imran Masood polled a total of 90,318 votes. But, bagging 94,375 votes Dr Saini emerged victorious in Nakur assembly seat. In Nakur, Navin Choudhary of BSP polled 65,328 and paved the way for the victory of the BJP candidate.
Imran Masood contested the 2014 Lok Sabha electiona and secured 4.10 lack votes but got defeated by BJP's Raghav Lakhanpal. However, his image was tarnished when in March 2014, a video clip surfaced in which he was seen threatening the BJP's Prime-ministerial Candidate, Narendra Modi.
Masood's partisans claim that this clip was six months old and had been deliberately leaked to polarize the electorate ahead of the Lok Sabha election. But, he was arrested by Police for his hate speech against Narendra Modi on 29 March 2014.
Imran Masood has served as the Chairman of Saharanpur's Municipal Council and MLA in the UP state assembly.
06:00 PM Sitting MLA Sibgatullah Ansari of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lost the Mohammadabad assembly constituency to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Alka Rai. Alka Rai defeated Sibgatullah Ansari in straight fight.
According to the eclection results declared by the State Election Commission today afternoon, Sibgatullah Ansari polled a total of 89,429 votes. However, he could not fight with Alka Rai of BJP who bagged a total of 122,156 votes.
Sibgatullah Ansari was the sitting MLA from the Mohammadabad assembly seat. He had won the 2012 election as QED candidate securing 66,922 votes.
05:30 PM Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader, Founder of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University Rampur and Minister in Akhilesh Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, has won the Rampur assembly seat by over 45,000 votes, according to the results announced by the state election commission Saturday.
Azam Khan was trailing in initial rounds. However, he later picked up pace and maintained the huge till the end.
As per the final result announced by the Election Commission, Azam Khan bagged a total of 102,100 votes defeating his nearest rival Shiv Bahadur Saxena of BJP who got 55,258.
Dr Tanveer Ahmad Khan of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) came third with a total vote of 54,248.
Azam Khan is representing Rampur since more than a decade. In 2012 state elections, he had bagged a total of 95,772 votes.
03:30 PM Choudhary Nahid Hasan of Samajwadi Party (SP) who contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh elections from the Kairana seat in Western UP, has won his seat, according to the results announced by the state election commission today afternoon.
Nahid Hasan defeated his nearest rival Mriganka Singh of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
Kairana assembly seat was represented by controversial BJP leader Hukum Singh. Nahid Hasan has been a MLA for one term. In Oct 2014, Nahid Hasan was elected in office after sitting member Hukum Singh got elected to the 16th Lok Sabha.
The city was in news recently when allegations were raised that Hindus of the city are migrating fearing violence by the majority Muslims.
12:55 PM In an interesting election results today in Uttar Pradesh, Brijesh Singh of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Deoband assembly seat. Deoband, known for famous Islamic seminary Darul Uloom, is dominated by Muslims.
Brijesh Singh, reportedly a mafia don turned politician, defeated Majid Ali of Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), Maviya Ali of Congress-Samajwdai Party (SP) combine and Bhupeshwar Tyagi of Ajit SIngh's RLD in Deoband of Western UP.
Maviya Ali has been a MLA for one term. He represented the Deoband constituency and is a member of the Indian National Congress political party. Ali was elected during the by-election held in Feb 2016 after the sitting member Rajendra Singh Rana died in Oct 2015.
In the 2012 assembly elections, the BSP won this constituency by 17,113 votes. Jagpal, the winning candidate, got 80,670 votes. The runner-up was Ch. Abdul Wahid of Congress who got 63,557 votes. The voter turnout was 73.80%.
11:15 AM Latest trends available at 11:15 am showed the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is continueing its victory march in Uttar Pradesh, leading in 305 of the total 403 seats. This is the first time BJP will form a government of its own in Uttar Pradesh.
The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) allied with the Congress ahead of the UP polls. Together the two parties are leading in 72 seats. The BSP is ahead in 18 seats. Four of the AIMIM candidates were leading but none of them in race. The AIMIM is contesting on a total of 38 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

06: 45 AM Counting of votes for the high- stakes assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and four other Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur states will start today i.e. Saturday March 11, 2017 exactky at 08:00 am.
According to the election commission, the process in Uttar Pradesh will begin with counting of postal votes and trends are expected to be available by 09:00 am. By 12 noon, a final picture could emerge on who would be the major players in the state.
The counting of vote will take place at 75 centres in Uttar Pradesh. The entire process will be completed by late evening, the state election commission said.
According to Election Commission guidelines, half-an-hour after the postal ballots are counted, the process of counting of EVM votes begins.
The 'ballot unit' is switched on in the presence of senior poll officials and counting agents of candidates and the result command keyed in to get the results per machine.
Where a paper trail audit or 'voter-verified paper audit trail' (VVPAT) has been used, the counting agent can call for a count of the paper slips in the drop box attached to the voting machine, but a final count is taken by the returning officer.
Once the results are declared, the names of the winning candidates will find mention in the gazette. The gazette notification will initiate the process to form the next legislative assemblies in the states.
Exit polls by various news channel released on Thursday had predicted a hung assembly in Uttar Pradesh. While most of the Exit Polls have given the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) a lead and pridcted that it will emerge as the single largest party, some including BBC News in their Exit Polls have predicted Samajwadi Party - Congress alliance ending as the single largest party.
Almost all the Exit Polls have put Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) at third position.
The other important player in Uttar Pradesh are Ajit Singh's RLD and Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
While the RLD has fielded candidates in Jat dominated Western Uttar Pradesh, AIMIM is contesting election in 38 assembly areas mostly dominated by Muslims.
The BJP, Congress, Samajwdai Party (SP) and Bahujan Samawajdi Party (BSP) all the leading players in Uttar Pradesh are exuding confidence of their victory and are upbeat about forming the next government.
If Chief Minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav who is heading the SP government in Uttar Pradesh is confident of retaining power, BSP Chief Mayawati is also eyeing a comeback in the state after five years.
The BJP is trying all its best to stake its claim in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi led the BJP campaign during the 7-phase election and is hoping to win as many seats as possible in the key state where it had won 73 of the total 80 seats in the 2014 General elections.
In 2012 elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) won 224 of the total 403 seats and formed the government. BSP was second with 80 seats, BJP was next with 47 seats and Congress and others had respectively won 28 and 24 seats.
