New Delhi: The Civil Services Main exams will begin from Sunday December 18, 2015 and the Detailed Application Form (DAF-CSM) for the coveted exam will be available from October 29th, the the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said in a statement made public on its website.
The UPSC announced the date of the Civil Services Main exam date while declaring the results of the Civil Services Preliminary Examination Tuesday and declaring the list of the candidates qualified for the same.
"On the basis of the result of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2015 held on 23.08.2015, the candidates with the following Roll Numbers have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2015", the UPSC website said on the result page.
"The candidature of these candidates is provisional. In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these candidates have to apply a gain in the Detailed Application Form, DAF (CSM), for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2015, which would be available on the website of the Union Public Service Commission www.upsc.gov.in", it added.
"All the qualified candidates are advised to fill up the DAF (CSM) online and submit the same ONLINE for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2015 to
be held from Sunday, the 18th December, 2015.
"The DAF (CSM) will be available on the website of the Commission from 29th October, 2015 till 13th November, 2015, 11:59 PM", the UPSC said on its website.
According to the UPSC, the candidates who have been declared successful have to first get themselves registered on the relevant page of the website before filling up the ONLINE DAF.
The qualified candidates are further advised to refer to the Rules of the Civil Services Examination, 2015 published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) of Department of Personnel and Training Notification dated 23.05.2015, which is also available on the Website of the Commission.
All the qualified candidates are also required to take a print out of the finally submitted DAF (CSM) separately after submitting the duly filled DAF (CSM) ONLINE.
The successful candidates will have to send the printed copy of the DAF (CSM) duly signed by the candidates along with all relevant documents including the prescribed fees, wherever applicable, as enclosures addressed to the Under Secretary [CS (M)], Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069, so as to reach the Commission's Office latest by 20th November, 2015, 5:00 PM.
The results of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2015 are available online on www.upsc.gov.in.
"A total of 15,008 candidates have qualified in the preliminary examination," UPSC Secretary Ashim Khurana told news agency PTI.
As against a record number of 9,45,908 candidates who have applied for the exam, about 4.63 lakh had sat in the test on August 23, which is about 49 per cent of the total applicants.
"The results of the preliminary exam were declared within 50 days of conducting the exam. It is the shortest ever duration in which the results were declared," Khurana said.

Last year, the results of the UPSC Prelim exams were announced on October 14, 2014.
The preliminary examination, held on August 23, 2015, had two papers of 200 marks each. Over nine lakh students from across the country had applied for the 2015 prelim exams held at 71 centres over 21,000 venues.
The civil service examination is taken by students to get into the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Services, Indian Police Service and Indian Revenue Services.
