Government to ease norms for start-up MSMEs
Friday March 11, 2016 8:19 PM, IANS

New Delhi: Aiming to create a conducive environment for start-up Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the government has decided to relax certain norms, an official statement said here on Friday.

The relaxation will help the start-ups to take part in the mandatory 20 percent public procurement from MSMEs, the statement said.

“According to the decision, if the MSMEs can deliver the goods and services as per prescribed technical and quality specifications, the norms on prior experience and prior turnover will be relaxed for them,” it added.

The MSME ministry has decided to conduct awareness campaigns to ensure better implementation of quality standards in the MSME sector.

“Hundred awareness campaigns will be organised in the states across the country through MSME-Development Institutes and other expert organisations in the next financial year. Four metro level workshops at Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and one National Level Workshop at Delhi will be organised in the next financial year,” the statement added.
