Manama: Two students at the University of Bahrain have successfully developed a new type of cement that is more sustainable to the region's environment kown for its high-temperature resistance and lightweight.
The new cement can also reduce construction costs by large percentages ranging from 25% to 75%.
The two students stated: "These kinds of walls are currently used in East Asian countries. However, they are not heat-resistant. We have conducted scientific experiments to develop the characteristics of this cement to improve its sustainability to the temperature of the region”.
They added that "the advantages of these walls also include resistance to humidity, they are soundproof, and easy to install. Using them would reduce the duration of construction work, the number of workers required for the process, as well as the total cost".
