Lucknow girl tops CA finals; Bhiwandi boy 2nd and Ahmedabad girl 3rd in India

New Delhi:
Eti Agarwal of Lucknow topped the All India ranking whereas Piyush Ramesh Lohia of Bhiwandi and Jyoti Mukeshbhai Maheshwari of Ahmedabad secured the second and third positions respectively, according to the CA 2016 results declared by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Tuesday.

The results were announced around 2 pm on Tuesday. Out of the total 74,096 candidates who appeared for the final Chartered Accountant (CA) exam, only 7,192 successfully cleared the exam.

Daughter of a chartered accountant and a Bharatnatyam dancer, Eti Agarwal scored 599/800 with a pass percentage of 74.88, securing the first position in All India Ranking. Before securing first position, Eti had earlier scored All India Rank 1 at the CA- Intermediate (IPC) in November 2013, according to HT.

Piyush Ramesh Lohia from Bhiwandi stood second, securing 574 marks (71.75%). Jyoti Mukesh Bhai Maheshwari from Ahmedabad who secured the third position scored a total of 566/800 (70.755).

The CA 2016 examination was held in November 2016 and the Common Proficiency Test was held in December 2016. Earlier, the ICAI has issued a notification regarding releasing results on email and through SMS.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is the national professional accounting body of India. ICAI is the second largest professional Accounting & Finance body in the world in terms of membership, after American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. ICAI is the only licensing cum regulating body of the financial audit and accountancy profession in India.

The Institute conducts the CA Final exams twice in a year, in the months of May and November.
