
Bengaluru:The first batch of Haj Pilgrims from Karnataka consisting of a total of 150 pilgrims on Monday July 24, 2017 reached Madinah - the City of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) in Saudi Arabia. The Haj pilgrims departed for the Holy City from Mangaluru International Airport at 04:15 pm on Monday.
A total of 790 Haj pilgrims from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu and Hassan districts would travel to Saudi Arabia from Mangaluru in three days till 26th July.
Another Haj Special Flight left for Madinah at 12.55 pm. The last flight from Mangaluru International Airport will depart at 04.15 pm Wednesday.
The quota of Haj pilgrims from Karnataka is 6,000. The quota distribution is done based on the population of Muslims in a state.
Others besides those leaving from Menaguru airport will travel from Bengaluru International Airport between 8th August and 22nd August. One Haj flight would take off from Bengaluru every day.
The Haj pilgrims from Karnataka can check the entire schedule by entering their cover number on Haj Committee of India website.
The Haj Committee of India (hajcommittee.gov.in) will also inform individually all pilgrims who are going for haj in 2017 through e-mail and SMS.
Meanwhile, the Hajj Committee of India has also uploaded on its website details of “standard baggage” allowed for the haj pilgrims.
According to the details released by the Haj Committee, allowed check-in bag include 02 suitcases of 22 kg each while permissible hand bag is one weighing maximum of 10 kg.
