
Thiruvananthapuram: Schools and colleges will remain closed till August 29 and all exams, including Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group C and First Year Improvement/Supplementary examinations in Kerala have been postponed till further order following the worst floods which hit the state on August 08.
A new date of the exams will be announced soon, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and Education Department said in two separate statements.
“Due to severe weather conditions, First Year Improvement/Supplementary examinations which was supposed to be held on August 17, 2018 have been postponed. The new date will be announced soon,” the official notification said.
Announcing postponement of RRB Group C CBT exams, Director Information and Publicity Indian Railways Rajesh Bajpai said, "Due to the worsening of the flood situation in Kerala, it was not possible to conduct the exam on Friday. Hence, the exam at the Kerala centres is being postponed.
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group C Loco Pilot and Asst. Technician Computer Based Test (CBT) was scheduled to be held on Sunday.
Meanwhile, first time on Sunday IMD has lifted the Red Alert for the flood-hit state. The floods since August 08 have taken more tha 320 lives, according to AFP, though the government figure is musch less. Reports in the last few days have suggested that many parts of the state are still under water and cut-off from each other, leaving people there without food and drinking water.
