Srinagar: Insha Mushtaq, who became the face of horror in Kashmir after she list her eyesight to pellets, has cracked the Class 10 board exam.
“Our happiness is inexplicable. It’s beyond our expectations. She will pursue her studies given her marks,” said the victim’s father, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone.
Insha’s face was hit by a volley of pellets in 2016 during the clashes between protesters and security forces in Sedow village in Shopian in south Kashmir., according to The Hindu.
The results which were announced on Tuesday declared Insha qualified, though with a note that ‘she needs to improve.’
A relative of Insha confirmed to Kashmir Life about her results and said that she has to appear in Mathematics again.
However, according to Hindustan Times, there was an error in Insha's result as she did not appear for Maths paper. According to her father, Insha had opted for music instead because it’s difficult to study mathematics after she lost her eyesight completely.
“We are very, very happy that Insha has passed the boards but the problem is that her mark-sheet is not reflecting the accurate subjects. She never took the mathematics exam. Why is it showing mathematics in the scorecard? Her subject was music,” father Mushtaq Ahmed said.
Insha secured grade points of eight each in Urdu and science, seven in social science and six in English.
Meanwhile, former CM Omar Abdullah congratulated the teenager and prayed for her future success.
“A special shout out to young Insha who was blinded by pellets during the 2016 protests & has cleared her 10th exams today. May Allah keep rewarding your hard work & efforts,” he wrote on Twitter.
