New Delhi: Known for making unsubstantiated claims, Union Minority Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday said thousands of educational institutions run by minorities, including Madaris, have been mainstreamed in the past one year.

"In the last about one year, thousands of educational institutions of all Minority communities including Madarsas, have been included in the mainstream education system by connecting them with "3T - Teacher, Tiffin and Toilet", Naqvi said while presiding the 57th meeting of General Body and 101st meeting of Governing Body of Maulana Azad Educational Foundation.

"Ministry of Minority Affairs has worked with commitment to “3E - Education, Employment and Empowerment”, Naqvi added coining yet another acronym, which has become hallmark of the Modi government in New Delhi in the last four years.

Naqvi however did not elaborate what he meant by "mainstreaming" and how his government achieved the reported claim.

Naqvi also claimed that school dropout rate among Muslim girls, which was earlier more than 70 per cent, has now been reduced to about 35-40 per cent due to awareness and educational empowerment programmes of the Government.

"Our goal is to bring it down to zero per cent. Transparent and hassle-free scholarship system has played a key role in this endeavour", he added.

"This year, "National Scholarship Portal Mobile App" (NSP Mobile App) has been launched which will ensure a smooth, accessible and hassle-free scholarship system for students from poor and weaker sections", he said.

Naqvi had made similar claims about drop-out rate of Muslim girls in the past also.

"During the last about 4 years, the Central Government’s “Empowerment without Appeasement” policy has ensured that a record, about 3 crore students belonging to poor and weaker sections of Minorities, have been benefitted from various scholarship programmes", Naqvi said.

"The beneficiaries include about 1 crore 63 lakh girls", he claimed.

The statement released by the Ministry of Minosiry Affairs also said that various schemes for educational empowerment of minorities, "Begum Hazrat Mahal Girls Scholarship", "Gharib Nawaz Kaushal Vikas Yojana", other scholarship programmes were reviewed during today's meeting.

Naqvi also said the government has decided to establish a "world class" educational institution for poor, backwards and minorities in Alwar district of Rajasthan. "Foundation stone ceremony of this institute will be held on October 01, 2018 and the institute will become operational in 2020", he said.
