Aligarh: The students of today must dedicate themselves to follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) in their lives completely in letter and spirit. It is the duty of each one of us that we must strive as hard as possible to attain knowledge without discriminating between mundane or religious. These sentiments were expressed by the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis. He was addressing the valedictory session of the Seeratun Nabi programmes organized by the Seerat Committee of AMU.

“Islam is the religion of peace and harmony. However, some fascist forces are trying to project a wrong image of Islam”, groaned Prof. Abdul Azis. According to him, “Only the educated youths have the potential and power to quell and defeat such an obnoxious tendency and to present a true picture of Islam”. Prof. Azis categorically mentioned that there is no relationship between Islam and terrorism. “AMU is beacon of Islamic as well as modern education”, emphasized Prof. Azis.

Highlighting the secular credentials of AMU Prof. P.K. Abdul Aziz mentioned, “From the day one the Founder of this Institution Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his Comrades upheld the highest ethos of secularism. In the eyes of Sir Syed both Hindus and Muslims were one and same, observed Prof. Azis. He called upon the students to take active part in the process of nation building. He also congratulated the Organisers for a successful show of the Seerat programmes.

Sare Jahan Se Accha

Hindustan Hamara

In 1905 more than 100 years from today, when Iqbal was a lecturer at the Government College, Lahore he was invited by his student Lala Hardayal to preside over a function. Instead of making a speech, Iqbal sang Sare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara in his style. Iqbal compiled this poem in praise of India and the poem preaches the communal harmony that had unfortunately started ceasing in India by that time. Each and every word in this poem depicts an Indian’s respect and love for the motherland and the values the Indian society inherited for long...Read Full
