Russia to host FIFA World Cup in 2018, Qatar to do it in 2022

Zurich: Russia will host the 2018 World Cup while Qatar will host it in 2022, it was announced Thursday after they won the vote by FIFA's executive committee.

The decision was announced in Zurich by Joseph Blatter, the president of football's world governing body.

Russia won the vote ahead of rival bidders England, Portugal/Spain and Belgium/Netherlands.

 

Qatar that will host the 2022 World Cup won the vote ahead of Australia, the US, South Korea and Japan.
