              Bhopal:
              Non-issuance of visa
to foreign participants for the two-day seventh "Aalamee Musabiqa
Qirat-e-Qur'an" (international competition of traditional styles
of rendition of the Holy Qur'an with Tajweed) has forced the
              organizers to postpone the programme.

The competition was to be organized here in Bhopal on December 22
and 23 under the banner of Aalamee Anjuman-e-Zeenat-ul-Qur'an at
the historic Iqbal Maidan open air auditorium in the walled city.

A crest-fallen Maulana Abdul Hafeez Khan, president of this
Aalamee Anjuman, talking to this Correspondent said the
non-issuance of visa to foreign participants from the United
Kingdom, Iran, Pakistan, Republic of Panama has dismayed us.
Without the overseas Qaris the competition which was billed as an
international one would have looked ridiculous with only
competitors from across the country would have taken part.

In the competition apart from abroad, Qaris from the Indian states
of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra,
Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh,
Haryana and host Madhya Pradesh etc. were to exhibit their skills
of rendering Qur'an in different styles in the competition.

Maulana Abdul Hafeez said Insha’Allah the competition would be
organized in March-April next year with efforts to bring in Qaris
from more countries and concerted efforts made to ensure that they
              were issued visa for it.
