New Delhi: Union home minister P Chidambaram said the govt is committed to maintain normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir and asked the security forces to maintain maximum restraints while dealing with troublemakers in the state.

Answering a question in a press briefing held after a meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the situation in Kashmir on Wednesday he said the anti-national elements in Sopore (JK) are clearly linked to Lashkar-e- Taiba (LeT).

Centre appreciates statement made by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah which has calmed the situation in violence-hit areas of the State, said Home Minister.

Chidambaram further said that full protection will be given to Amarnath Yatris.

Violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by security force personnel in Narayanpur (Chhattisgarh) attack on Tuesday would be known only after preliminary enquiry report by DG, CRPF, Chidambaram said. He further added the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) will decide on whether to amend Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA).

Regarding the Bhopal Gas leak case Chidambaram said the Liability in the case can only be fixed by Court of Law.
