Tuesday, March 23, 2010 04:28:06 AM, UNI
Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister of state for Food and Civil Supplies Abdul Sattar today clarified in the State Assembly that he did not beat up any person at a party meeting at Aurangabad yesterday, convened for selection of candidates for municipal elections.
In a suo motto explanation to media reports that he had beaten up a person, Sattar said that during the meeting some goonda elements, not connected with the party, tried to disturb the meeting and Congress workers took them on, leading to a scuffle. During the melee, someone attempted to attack him and party workers prevented him, he added.
Leader of the opposition Eknath Khadse rose to seek certain clarification, however, Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil disallowed him stating that there could not be any discussion on a personal explanation to the House.
