Malegaon:
Over two million people have
begun arriving to perform Haj - the annual ritual and pilgrimage to
Makkah al Mukarrema in Saudi Arabia even as the government is
taking all efforts to make the affair smooth and free from
trouble.
"About 1.75 million foreign pilgrims
would perform Haj this year. They would be joined by some 250,000
faithful from within the Kingdom", Arab News quoted Saudi
Haj Minister Fouad Al-Farsy.
Speaking to reporters after opening a workshop on crowd management
at Jamrat in Mina, the minister said the government would carry
out more projects for the welfare of pilgrims.
He said the workshop was aimed at exchanging expertise and
information to ensure smooth movement of pilgrims to the stoning
area in Mina.
The Hajj this year falls in the
second week of November and Hajis from different parts of world
have already begun arriving in Makkah. An estimated 1,50,000
people from India are expected to perform the Hajj this year.
