Guwahati:
Eminent film director and social activist Mahesh Bhatt said that
secularism is in my blood and I cannot imagine India other than
being secular.
He said that the core ideology of the
Congress is secularism and that’s motivated me to come over Assam
and appeal for supporting the Congress in the current Assembly
Elections.
He said that the Congress appointed
Sachar Commission and later took steps for implementing its
recommendations along with serving the weaker sections of the
masses, so it should be given another chance in Assam to form the
government to maintain the continuity.
Mahesh Bhatt was addressing the press
meet called by Aligarh Muslim University Community [AMU] based NGO
of the intellectuals, teachers and scholars of the AMU, the Millat
Bedari Muhim Committee [MBMC] Aligarh as part of its ‘Karwan-e
Bedari’ [travelling to awaken the masses].
Mahesh Bhatt pointed out that every political party or individual
has some weak points but its finer side should not be over looked.
He said that Congress is the only
political party which has trust of all sections of the Indian
citizenry.
He called upon local intellengecia and
masses to crush rising tide of communalism and separatism.
It should
be noted that MBMC has extended its full support to the Congress and
has declared to work tirelessly to make it victorious in the current
assembly elections.
The first phase of elections in Assam
