senior Gujarat Police officers, whose names figured in the Ishrat
Jahan alleged staged killing case, were transferred Tuesday on the
high court's orders to prevent them influencing the investigation.

Gandhinagar:
A special investigation team (SIT) probing the 2004 Ishrat Jahan
alleged staged shootout case submitted a progress report in the
Gujarat High Court Wednesday.
The report was filed before the court's registrar (judicial).
In an earlier hearing, the bench comprising Justice Jayant Patel
and Justice Abhilasha Kumari pulled up the SIT for the poor
progress in the investigation.
"The progress report submitted is not to the expectation of the
court," the court said, directing the SIT to file a fresh report.
Ishrat Jahan, Pranesh Pillai, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar
were killed on the outskirts of Ahmedabad in June 2004 by Gujarat
Police. Police termed them as Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives on a
mission to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
