New Delhi: A national
strategy is needed to preserve the heritage of the Urdu language,
Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said here
Wednesday.
"We need to preserve the past and at the same time need to make
the study of Urdu relevant as regards the aspiration of the
youth," Sibal said while addressing a meeting of the National
Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).
The minister said that promotion of liberal arts associated with
the Urdu language like calligraphy, painting and ghazal singing
would also be put on fast track.
Sibal added that the National Vocational Educational Qualification
Framework being developed by the government will also focus on
this matter.
"Efforts will be made to associate vocational education with this
effort," Sibal said.
