Chandigarh:
Chandigarh Police have suspended two of its officers for creating
ruckus at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and
Research (PGIMER) and manhandling its employees.
The accused were identified as head constable Balbir Singh and
constable Sandeep Singh. They were accompanying a heart patient to
the PGIMER here Thursday night when the incident took place.
According to the complaint, the accused manhandled Bimla, a
sweeper, when she objected to their drinking liquor near the
emergency stairs. They hurled abuses at her and thrashed two other
male employees who intervened in the matter.
Following this, the victims wrote a petition to the PGIMER
director, who further sent it to the Chandigarh Police.
"Balbir and Sandeep have been suspended and a departmental inquiry
has been ordered," said a police officer Sunday.
During the last 45 days, at least seven officers of Chandigarh
Police have been suspended. Five of them were suspended for taking
bribe in three different cases.
