install portrait of Sir Syed in Parliament

Bhopal: Aligarh based NGO Aligarh
Movement for Education, Health & Communal Harmony (AMEHCH), has
passed resolutions demanding to install the portrait of Sir Syed
Ahmad Khan in the Indian Parliament (Sansad Bhawan) and re-naming
the road from Aligarh railway station to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), as “SIR SYED ROAD”.
According to a Press release issued by AMEHCH the resolutions were
passed at a meeting to observe the 113th death anniversary of the
founder of AMU & founder of Aligarh Movement, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan at
Media Centre in Aligarh on Sunday (March 27).
Presiding over the meeting Prof. Razaullah Khan pointed out that Sir
Syed had multi-faceted personality and he had emphasized upon
manners and good behaviour along with education.
OSD of Jamia Urdu Aligarh Farhat Ali Khan said that Sir Syed had
urged the Muslims to become confident and called upon them to
channelize their energies towards constructive activities.
Discussing the social works undertaken by Sir Syed, Secretary of
AMEHCH, Jasim Mohammad said that Sir Syed had evolved residential
life because it makes young people not only responsible but also
confident.
Secretary Hazrat Ameer Khusro Education Society Prof. Syed Iqbal Ali
said that Sir Syed had translated western books of science and other
subjects into Urdu so that Urdu speaking people may benefit from it.
He emphasized on the translation of latest research into Urdu.
Vice president of AMEHCH Dr. Mohammad Shahid pointed out that Sir
Syed was an architect par excellence and a thought provoking
historian. He said that the buildings in AMU constructed during Sir
Syed’s lifetime are on example of his architectural taste.
Meanwhile, on the occasion a booklet entitled “Sir Syed Ahmad Khan
Aur Aligarh Movement” edited by Jasim Mohammad was also released
by Prof. Razaullah Khan, president of AMEHCH. Others who were
present on the occasion included Daulat Ram, Johny Foster,
Ghulam Farid Sabri, Ms Fatima Zehra, Kapil Kumar and Manoj Bhatt along with large number of teachers and scholars of AMU,
