BJP president Nitin Gadkari calls on Sonia Gandhi

Monday June 04, 2012 07:54:12 PM, IANS

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari Monday called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her residence, sparking speculation that they may have discussed the coming presidential polls.

Sources from the BJP, however, said that Gadkari met the Congress president to invite her to his younger son's wedding.

"He had gone to invite her for his younger son's wedding," a BJP source told IANS, not willing to be named.

The meeting came soon after the Congress working committee meeting Monday morning authorised Sonia Gandhi to select the party's candidate for the country's presidential election due next month.
