Drive to save British kids from online sex

Monday March 26, 2012 10:25:39 AM, IANS

London: British parents may have to "opt in" to watch pornography online in a bid to protect their children from seeing indecent images.

Tory MP Claire Perry wants providers to offer a "clean" service by default. Her campaign comes after studies revealed that one in three 10-year-olds in Britain have watched online sex, the Daily Express reported.

Studies have revealed that one in three 10-year-olds in Britain have watched online sex. In the 14-16 age group, the number shoots up to eight in 10.

While parents say they are worried, only about half activate filters on their home computers to block explicit sexual content.

According to Perry, pornography is a poor sex educator.

She says early exposure can pressure teenage girls to have risky sex, and lead boys to adopt "violent and unhealthy notions of sex and relationships".
