Nine convicted, 32 acquitted for Gujarat riots case

Anand (Gujarat): The Anand district and sessions court Friday convicted nine people and
acquitted 32 for the killing of three members of a Muslim family
in Ode village of Gujarat during the 2002 communal riots.
Judge R.M. Sharim gave the verdict in the case related to Malav
Bhagol area of Ode in Anand district.
Three Muslims - Kadar Vohra, Ayesha Vohra and Noori Vohra, all
from the same family - were burnt to death inside a house near
Malav Bhagol March 1, 2002, two days after the Godhra train
carnage.
In April, a special trial court had acquitted 23 people, but also
convicted 23 for the massacre of 23 people in another case of
communal killings in Ode village during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
