New Delhi: Gujarat Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia and Congress Legislative Party leader Shaktisinh Gohil figure in the first list of 52 candidates announced Wednesday for the state assembly polls Dec 13 and 17.

According to a Congress statement, Modhwadia will contest from Porbandar and Gohil will fight the polls from Bhavnagar rural seat.

The list includes constituencies that will go to the polls Dec 13 and 17. There are also four women candidates in the list.

In a coincidence, the list came on a day when 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab was hanged. Congress sources said this could help the party's prospects in the Gujarat elections.

Gujarat has a 182-member assembly. The results will be out Dec 20.
