Mumbai: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to declare the results of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) re-exams on August 17 on its official website.

Though there is no official announcement about the exact date and time of the results, the CBSE to meet the Supreme Court deadline can't delay the results beyond August 17.

The CBSE had already released the AIPMT 2015 re-exam Answer Sheet on August 12.

The CBSE had conducted the re-exams of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Medical Entrance Test - widely known as AIPMT necessary for admission to various courses in medical and dental colleges across India on July 25, 2015.

The decision to conduct re-exam was taken following a Supreme Court verdict after reports of paper leak in the AIPMT 2015 exam was reported to the country's highest court.

More than six lakh students from all across the country appeared for the re-test at about 1,050 centres for over 3,800 medical seats.

The re-exam was also marred by controversy - first by the guidelines issued by the CBSE for the students to follow a dress code, and later by a SC observation on head scarf - normally used by female students belonging to Christian and Muslim communities.

Though the CBSE relaxed its guidelines before the exams, there was anger in Kerala after a Christian nun was barred from writing the AIPMT 2015 re-exam for her refusal to remove her headsarf.

Meanwhile, ahead of the students who apperaed for the tough exam - necessary for admission to various courses in medical, are hopeful of the best.

"Some students cheated and we got the benefit of a re-test, “said Tarun Rana, a medical student.

“The idea of re-test worked well for some of us who had scored low last time. I had scored 598 marks last time and now got 624 marks, as per the answer key released by CBSE.

"This time the paper was comparatively easier as there were some direct questions in biology from NCERT unlike the last time. Physics was slightly tough compared to the last time as some numericals in the paper required substantial amount of time for calculations," said Rana.

Another medical aspirant Saharsh Singh said that the time gap between the original test and the re-test was considerable and so he could prepare well and perform better this time though the toughness level of the papers was almost the same both the times. Singh is "expecting a better college this time."

However, some students who had scored fairly well in their first attempt were not very happy.

"My son was very nervous before the re-test. The high drama around scheduling of the re-test gave him nightmares and affected his performance badly. He scored 51 marks less in the re-test compared to the first test," said Anita Goel, parent of a medical aspirant.
