Mumbai: With a statement issued by none other than Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani that a decision has been taken that all results would be announced before May 31, students and parents in Maharashtra are in a fix as the state board is yet to decide when it will actually declare results of the Class 12 and Class 10 board exams conducted in March/April 2016.
Following Irani's statement, various states are seemingly in a race to declare the results. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced Class 12 results on May 21 and has announced that the CBSE Class 10 results will be declared before May 27.
States like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura and Jharkhand have also declared their results. Some states which are yet to announce results have announced that they will declare the results before May 31.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) however is yet to take a call. Students and parents are worried as the Maharashtra board is known for declaring the results in May end and first or second week of June.
Last year Maharashtra HSC Class XII results were declared on May 27. But, the Maharashtra SSC Class 10 results were declared on June 08.
"We fail to understand why the Maharashtra board takes so much time to declare the results. States like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh where number of students appearing for exams are far more than Mahasrashtra. Yet they are able to declare their results much before", Prakash Shah, a parent, said while talking to ummid.com.
"After Union HRD Minister's statement we hoped that like CBSE and other states Maharashtra too will declare results before May 31. But, we are disappointed because so far the board has maintained total silence on the exact date and time of result announcement", he added.
During an hour-long interaction with students on social networking site Facebook on May 17, Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani had said at a meeting headed by Secretary, School Education, HRD Ministry with all state boards held in October 2015 "a decision was taken that all results across the country will surely be declared by May 31".
Some reports have suggested that the Maharashtra Class XII results will be declared on May 25 and Maharashtra Class X results 2016 will be announced later. The board however has not issued any official statement.
