New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start the process of online application for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-II (UG) from Thursday for admission to medical and dental courses. The exam will be held on July 24.
“The test will be applicable for admissions to the All India quota seats, State Government Quota seats where the state government concerned so opts and Private/Management/NRI Quota seats in all Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/Deemed University,” CBSE said in an official statement.
“The detailed information regarding test, syllabus and eligibility criteria will be available on the website www.aipmt.nic.in,” the statement said.
The CBSE is also launching a dedicated portal for the NEET registration and assistance to provide related information.
It said that as per the directions of the Supreme Court, left out candidates who could not register or appear in NEET-I or those having the apprehension that they had not prepared well, subject to submission of an undertaking to give up their candidature for NEET-I, can apply in NEET-II.
President Pranab Mukherjee earlier on May 24 gave his consent to two ordinances which exempted state government medical and dental colleges from NEET.
The states now have the option of either conducting their own exam or be part of the NEET to fill 85 per cent of the Under Graduate medical and dental seats. 15 per cent of the remaining seats will be filled through NEET by all India counselling.
Meanwhile, though the CBSE has announced it is starting online procedure for NEET-II registration from today, the website, www.aipmt.nic.in is not operational. Visiting the website, gives a message, "Coming Shortly. Please Try again after some time".
