New York: Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani slammed on Tuesday the international silence on Israeli actions against Palestine.
In a statement carried by QNA, Al-Thani said: “Some countries pursue an approach of action beyond the framework of international legitimacy against the backdrop of an international negligence of implementing Security Council resolutions.”
He said that the Palestinian cause is at a standstill waiting for a just solution after more than seven decades of Israeli occupation.
He noted that Israel rejected the resolutions of international legitimacy and the comprehensive Arab peace initiative, and that it seeks to impose a fait accompli through long-term plans to build settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
It is noteworthy that Tel Aviv continues to authorize building settlements on Palestinian territories despite several Security Council resolutions banning the act.
“It is no longer possible to ignore the weakness of the United Nations’ legal and institutional system,” he said.
Furthermore, he stressed that the Arab nation cannot accept normalization with Israel before achieving a just solution to the Palestinian cause.
