
New Delhi: Concerned by the recent violence and suppression of Muslims and Dalits in India, senior Dalit and Muslim leaders on Monday held a meeting at Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind headquarters in Delhi to hammer out a solution to fight the communal forces.
After about 06-hour long meeting, the leaders drafted a resolution to form a joint Dalit-Muslim social front which will not only protect the Constitution but also fraternity of the country under the laws.
Leaders and Intellectuals from both the communities including Professor Kancha Ilaiah, Professor Ram Puniyani, Swami Agnivesh, Ashok Bharti, Prakash Ambedkar, Harsh Mandar, Qari Mahmood Usman President Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, Mohammed Madni, Arshad Madni, Kamal Farooqui and others participated in the meeting.
Moreover, leaders from other minority communities including Sikhs and Christians were also present in the meeting orgainsed with the theme 'Country at Cross Road – The Way Ahead'.
Speaking on the occasion, social activist Professor Ram Puniyani said that RSS wants a Hindu Rashtra since its inception. And now when they are in power they are implementing their plans.
"If this government returned to the power in 2019 then constitution cannot be protected,” he asserted, adding that in the last four years, they have been dividing people by spreading fear, hate and communalism in the country..
“If we want to save the country, the Constitution and its fraternity we have to act as one in the upcoming General Elections against the BJP”, Puniyani said.
Following the event, former MP and grandson of BR Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar said that the BJP government is constantly trying to weaken and change the Constitution.
“To trounce them, we need to kickstart a revolution. We need to neutralize communal forces through cultural exchange," he said.
Speaking at the event, President of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Qari Mohammad Usman said, “As citizens of the country, we have the right to question the government. But, this right now is being quashed.”
“We need to expose the government and hatred they have been spreading in the country for political gain", he added.
Swami Agnivesh emphasised that the recent incidents tarhgetting Dalits and Muslims are horrifying. “We have to unite to fight against these forces", he said.
Arshad Madani of Jamiat-e-Ulema said, “Not only Muslims, the ruling party also wants to eliminate and finish Christens from the country's map. It is high time we form a common platform to fight against them” he said.
