Mumbai: A video blog of author and ABP News journalist Abhisar Sharma exposing media lies and what actually happened in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh on Republic Day Friday has so far been viewed by more than 48,000 people.
“There was no slogan in favour of Pakistan. Local Muslims were trying to hoist the national tricolor when they were stopped by ABVP activists who were holding saffron flags. It is they who stopped the Muslims from the national tricolor, not Muslims”, Abhisar Sharma said in the video, a version of which posted on Twitter has been viewed by more than 85,500 viewers.
Chandan Gupta, a labourer, had been killed and several others were left injured in Kasganj following clashed between Hindus and Muslims on Republic Day. Reports said Muslims had organisted a flag hoisting ceremony to celebrate Republic Day at Shaheed Abdul Hameed Chowk when they were interrupted by ABVP activists.
In the 17-minuite video blog, Abhisar also showed the clippings of ABP News report in which local Muslims are seen recalling to the viewers about what happened on the day.
“Some 50 VHP and ABVP activists holding saffron flags interrupted us when we were celebrating the Republic Day. They were shouting slogans calling the Muslims to go to Pakistan. We were calm and invited them to join us for the flag hoisting. They refused and went away, but came again after a while in a larger group and attacked us”, a local seen as saying in the video.
Explaining in detail what exactly happened on the day which led to the communal clashes, Abhisar then questioned a section of media which showed an exactly opposite and misleading version.
“There is no proof that Muslims shouted slogans in favour of Pakistan. But, there is ample prove to show that ABVP and VHP activist tried to hoist saffron flags at Abdul Hameed Chowk where the Muslims had planned flag hoisting of National Tricolor to celebrate Republic Day”, Abhisar said.
Abhisar did not stop here. He said there is a cleverly hatched conspiracy behind the violence. Without naming any party, he said with the help of its “friends in media”, it wants to destroy peace and harmony in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and other parts of the country.
“Who wants to disrupt peace and harmony? Who will benefit if peace is disrupted?” Abhisar repeatedly asked in the video.
“We should ask these questions to ourselves”, he added.
“There are some people who are creating unrest. Why?” he said.
He also said lies are deliberately being spread by a section to disrupt peace and harmony.
“Is this an attempt to convert Kasganj into another Muzaffarnagar? You couldn’t fulfill the promise of acche din despite being in power since last three and half years. You don’t have any answer about rampant unemployment.
“Your foreign policy is also in a mess. You had made big claims about Doklam. But, the fact is that China is there again, and where construction of road is underway in full speed. There is tension with Pakistan. Our relation with Nepal is not in order.
“Against this backdrop, attempts are on to disturb peace in Rajasthan. Same thing is being done in Uttar Pradesh.
“It is hence we should ask ourselves, who is doing all these things and why? Who is going to benefit if the peace and harmony is disturbed?” Abhisar , who had won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Awards 2008, repeatedly asked in the video.
